According to a report by Reuters on July 5th, the U.S. military stated in a declaration that an F-16 fighter jet intercepted a general aviation aircraft flying over the temporary flight restriction area of President Trump’s golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey, on the 5th.
The North American Air Defense Command reported that this incident occurred around 2:39 PM local time on the 5th, marking the fifth occurrence of such a breach in the restricted area. A spokesperson confirmed that the F-16 was responsible for the interception mission.
The statement from the North American Air Defense Command mentioned that its fighter jets adopted a so-called “head-on approach” to draw the attention of civilian pilots, after which the aircraft was safely escorted out of the area.
The White House has yet to comment on this incident. The North American Air Defense Command has reported several similar events in recent weeks and urged general aviation pilots to thoroughly review all notices before taking off in the area.
