On the afternoon of June 6th, local time, the Japan Meteorological Agency convened a meeting regarding frequent earthquakes in the nearshore area of Tuguhara Island, Kagoshima Prefecture.

The Japan Meteorological Agency reported that statistics show that from June 21st to 5:00 PM on July 6th, there have been a total of 1,500 felt earthquakes in the nearshore area of Tuguhara Island.
The Japan Meteorological Agency issued an alert, reminding the public to be prepared for the possibility of experiencing a seismic intensity level 6 weak earthquake and cautioning local residents to pay attention to rainfall conditions. The agency warned that areas with strong seismic activity are at risk of housing collapse and geological disasters.
It is noted that the Japan Meteorological Agency’s seismic intensity scale ranges from weak to strong, with levels 0 to 4, 5 weak, 5 strong, 6 weak, 6 strong, and 7, totaling ten categories. (Reporter: Bai Chunyang)
