According to the emergency and law enforcement departments of Texas, the flood continues to wreak havoc in central Texas on the 5th. At least 51 people have died, with dozens still missing, and the death toll could rise further.
Henderson County, located along the Guadalupe River and close to the severely affected Ker County, was also heavily impacted by the flood on the 4th. On the 5th local time, a father was seen wandering through rubble looking for his daughter and her friends who had gone missing during the flood. In front of the camera, he expressed that the search was filled with despair, but they could only maintain their faith that their children were still alive.
Local resident Thayer Baden, in an interview, couldn’t hide his concern, “We pray that all four children are still alive.” He revealed that the four children had unfortunately disappeared in the flood.
Thayer Baden:
Yes, they are all missing. Early this morning at 4 o’clock someone told us that when the flood came, they were on the phone with Ethan’s dad, who had a beautiful house, but that house is no longer there. Ethan said, “I have to go, I need to help Ella and Reese.” Ethan handed the phone to Joyce, who said they were swept away by the flood. A few seconds later, the call was cut off, and we knew it.
In order to find the whereabouts of their children, Thayer Baden and his family went to the place where survivors gathered, hoping to hear the names of their daughters and friends, but they never did. Therefore, they decided to start searching for themselves on the morning of the 5th, walking through the debris hoping for a miracle.
Thayer Baden:
Keep your faith, we can only do this.
