Earlier that day, the Kremlin’s official website announced that President Putin had signed a presidential decree to relieve Starovoiet of his duties as the Russian Minister of Transport.
It is reported that Starovoiet held the position of Minister of Transport for only one year before his dismissal. The presidential decree issued earlier that day did not specify the reasons for his dismissal.
Starovoiet took up the role of Minister of Transport in May 2024. He previously served as the Governor of Kursk Province.

Legal authorities have reported that Starovoiet’s body was discovered in a bush near his private vehicle, with a gunshot wound to the head and a pistol belonging to him beside him. The vehicle was abandoned near a park in the Moscow area.
