“They indeed attempted to assassinate me, but they failed.” According to reports, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani recently denied the assassination attempt against him by the United States in an interview with American media personality Tucker Carlson. He stated that Israel was the mastermind behind the plot.

Rouhani revealed that during an internal meeting, he narrowly escaped an assassination attempt from Israel—Israel had attempted to bomb the area where he was holding a meeting using intelligence it possessed, but Iranian intelligence personnel promptly thwarted the Israeli attempt.
The reported assassination incident took place during the ongoing conflict between Iran and the United States last month.
It is noteworthy that Rouhani specifically mentioned that the person behind the assassination attempt was Israel, not the United States. Rouhani expressed that the Iranian government still hopes for a resolution through negotiations. “But how can we trust the United States again? If we negotiate again, how can we guarantee that Israel will not intervene again?” Rouhani asked.
In the interview, Rouhani denied Iran’s involvement in the production of nuclear weapons and also refuted previous reports about “Iran attempting to assassinate U.S. President Trump.”
Rouhani criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for his “unending war” in the Middle East, stating, “This is not America’s war; this is Netanyahu’s war. The U.S. government should avoid getting involved.” Rouhani added, “Iran does not seek another war with Israel.”

According to reports, White House spokesperson LaVelle Emmett Romney commented on Rouhani’s remarks, stating that it is currently unclear whether Trump knew what Rouhani had said. “However, I agree with one point: Trump may bring peace to the Middle East,” Romney said. As of now, neither Israel nor the United States has directly commented on the “assassination allegations.”
It is reported that Rouhani gave an interview on July 5th, and the video was released on July 7th. On the same night of the video release, Trump and Netanyahu dined together at the White House discussing the conflict between Iran and the United States and the Gaza War.
Reports indicate that Trump once again mentioned during the meal that Iranian officials have been in talks with the United States, hoping to resolve the nuclear issue. At the same table as Trump, U.S. Middle East envoy Steven Wittkopf added that negotiations might start soon, “possibly within a week.” However, as of now, Iran has not confirmed whether it will officially restart negotiations with the United States.
