以色列与伊朗冲突暂时告一段落;
But looking back at the situation after Pakistan had expressed hopes for Trump’s award, followed by the conflict between India and Pakistan, it seems that Trump didn’t play a significant role in mediating.
On July 6th, President of the United States Donald Trump returned to the White House in Washington, D.C.
Anyway, after the conflict between India and Pakistan, it seemed that Pakistan wasn’t as eager to hope for Trump’s award anymore.
What does the international community think about Israel’s appeal? Does it seem like Israel is actually making things worse?
After all, according to Netanyahu’s statement in 2024, Israel was engaged in seven battles with various forces, supported by the United States. This year, when Israel fought against Iran, the U.S. strategic stealth bombers bombed Iran. Is this what a Peace Prize laureate should do?
As for Cuba, what does Miguel Diaz-Canel mean?
“Cubans have survived and resisted war conditions for over 60 years. The bombs of economic war are falling around us every day, censoring, obstructing, stopping or slowing down all our efforts.” That’s his exact words.
Clearly, the Cuban leader’s message is that the United States has not ceased its blockade and sanctions on Cuba. It can also be said that “war has never left Cuba.”
Miguel Diaz-Canel
Haishou would say that the most critical moment between Cuba and the United States was during the missile crisis between the United States and the Soviet Union. Afterwards, relations certainly eased. Especially after the dissolution of the Soviet Union, there were frequent discussions in the international community about whether the United States should lift its sanctions on Cuba.
Not long ago, specifically on July 2nd, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning responded directly to a question about Trump’s signing of the National Security Presidential Memorandum on June 30th during a routine meeting.
Over the past 60 years, the United States has subjected Cuba to barbaric blockades and illegal sanctions, severely infringing upon Cuba’s right to survival and development, violating basic norms of international relations, and causing profound disasters to the Cuban people.
China firmly supports Cuba’s path of development that suits its national conditions and opposes the unilateral sanctions imposed by the US under the guise of “freedom” and “democracy.” We urge the US to immediately lift the blockade and sanctions against Cuba and remove it from the “state sponsor of terrorism” list. This is also a common call from the international community.
Looking back at recent US-Cuba relations, they have indeed been fraught with twists and turns. During Biden’s presidency, the US began to implement relatively moderate policies towards Cuba. However, after Trump took office again, he deliberately went against this approach, announcing the reinstatement and strengthening of his predecessor’s tough policies towards Cuba.
Of course, considering the actions taken by the US globally, its declaration of “liberation” on April 2nd was actually aimed at imposing “equal tariffs” on global trade partners, which has now evolved into its second phase…
On the other hand, the US has adopted different measures for countries not being its trade partners, such as Cuba, Iran, and Russia. For instance, unilateral military action against Iran, claims made that could “end the Russia-Ukraine conflict within 24 hours,” which did not take into account the feelings of Russia, and further tightened the blockade on Cuba!
On the day after Trump signed the National Security Presidential Memorandum, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement strongly condemning it, stating that this move exposed the US’s “aggression and hegemonistic intentions.”
The statement pointed out that this memorandum is a revised version of the same document from 2017, with its core purpose being to further strengthen the comprehensive economic blockade against Cuba over decades.
According to news reports, due to the U.S. government’s refusal to issue visas, the Cuban women’s volleyball national team was unable to travel to the United States territory of Puerto Rico to participate in the Central American Caribbean Volleyball Association Women’s Four-Team Championship from July 16th to 21st. The photo shows the Cuban women’s volleyball team. Interestingly, Cuba did not include Biden’s relatively gentle measures towards Cuba in their statement. Instead, they directly stated that since Trump signed the 2017 version of the memorandum and implemented it, the U.S. has adopted a series of stringent measures that have caused “serious harm” to Cuba.
The statement emphasized that these eight years of blockade are the main reason why Cuba is currently facing severe shortages and difficulties in economic recovery and development.
The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned these policies as blatantly violating international law and multiple United Nations resolutions, treating “economic coercion as a weapon of aggression against sovereign states.”
Hai Shou says that Cuba’s such language indicates that Biden’s statements of conciliation towards Cuba during his presidency may not have been enough time for implementation before Trump’s second term began tightening the blockade against Cuba.
The United States has always regarded Cuba as an embarrassment and a sting in its side, refusing to allow any neighboring country with completely different beliefs or social systems to exist within its own vicinity.
Today’s U.S. Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, is a second-generation Cuban immigrant. After the victory of the Cuban Revolution, many of Blinken’s ancestors fled to the United States. Among them, many generations have gained or held significant power in the United States. They do not tolerate any interactions between the United States and Cuba, nor do they hinder them in various ways.
Therefore, it is no surprise that Cuba claims to still be in a state of war.
Hopefully, there will be a gradual easing of relations between the United States and Cuba. This is undoubtedly beneficial for both the world and the United States itself. Let us not underestimate the importance of doing good deeds!
