[Report by Li Ziyu] Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu arrived in the United States this week for a visit. According to media reports from the Israel Times and other sources on the 9th local time, Netanyahu presented an “extraordinary gift” to President Trump at the White House on the 7th—a “Mezuzah box” shaped like a B-2 bomber, in memory of US military aircraft that had bombed Iran’s critical nuclear facilities. This gift sparked controversy on social media, with some netizens criticizing it as “not diplomatic but a mocking tribute to violence.”
The Israel Times explained that the “Mezuzah” is a scroll of parchment containing scriptures, traditionally placed in a decorative box and fixed to a doorpost.
The small plaque attached to the gift reads, “To Donald J. Trump, President, for the ‘Midnight Clapper Action’ (the US military operation codenamed for its strikes against Iran), which dropped a magnificent and beautiful bomb.” The gift was created by an Israeli blacksmith and artist named Aaron Bob, who suggested that the B-2 bomber-shaped “Mezuzah” box was made from debris from the downed Iranian missile.
On the 8th, Trump returned the favor by giving Netanyahu a red baseball cap and signing it, with the phrase “Trump is right all the time” emblazoned on it.
The “extraordinary gift” Netanyahu gave Trump on social media platform X sparked controversy.
Some netizens commented, “It’s chilling to see that behind the glamorous ceremony, echoes of destruction resonate. Celebrating bombings with gifts resembling invisible bombers is not diplomacy—it’s a mocking tribute to violence. When destruction becomes a symbol of thanks, the world must question: What values are being upheld?”↓
The Israel Times mentioned that during the 12-day conflict between Israel and Iran last month, US military aircraft played a significant role in the attacks on Iran’s key nuclear facilities. On the morning of June 13, Israel launched a massive airstrike on Iran, leading to multiple rounds of retaliatory strikes between the two countries. On the 21st Eastern Time, Trump announced that the US had attacked three nuclear facilities in Iran. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stated on the 22nd that the US attack on Iranian nuclear facilities was an act of aggression, and Iran would respond accordingly. On the 23rd, Iran launched a missile strike against the US Air Force Base in Qatar’s Udaidi. On the 24th, according to the schedule announced by the US, a ceasefire was declared between Iran and the US. The Islamic Republic News Agency quoted Iranian Justice Ministry spokesperson Asghar Jahangiri on the 30th saying that the 12-day attack by Israel from June 13 to 24 resulted in 935 deaths.
