Yoon Suk-yeol Attended the Review of the Detention Order’s Necessity
On the evening of July 9th, local time, following nearly seven hours of prolonged hearings, the review of the necessity of detaining former President Yoon Suk-yeol in South Korea concluded with court questioning. Yoon Suk-yeol left the Central District Court of Seoul by vehicle, taken to the Seoul Detention Center, awaiting the outcome of the review.
On June 6th, the Special Investigation Team in charge of investigating the emergency martial law incident requested the court to detain former President Yoon Suk-yeol on suspicions of obstructing official duties and forging official documents. This was after Yoon Suk-yeol’s first detention was revoked on March 8th this year, following his release from detention. Following this, the investigative authorities in South Korea once again applied to the court for the detention of Yoon Suk-yeol.
