Cailian Press, July 10th – According to reports, U.S. President Donald Trump announced that starting from August 1, 2025, all Brazilian products would be subject to a 50% tariff. On the same day, Brazilian Vice President and Minister of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services, Geraldo Alckmin, stated that Trump’s announcement of new tariffs on Brazilian goods is unfair. He responded, “I cannot see any reason for raising tariffs on Brazil. Brazil is not an issue for the United States, which needs to be emphasized. The United States indeed has a trade deficit, but it is a deficit in favor of Brazil. In the products exported by the United States to us, eight out of ten are zero-tariff, without taxation.” He further stated that this measure against Brazil is unfair and will also harm the U.S. economy as there is integration in the trade sector.
