On July 10th, local time, the spokesperson for the U.S. State Department, Tammy Bruce, stated that following the Supreme Court’s announcement of a decision, a plan aimed at reforming the State Department and reducing staff is now in its implementation phase.
Bruce declined to disclose when the layoff plan would begin but indicated it would be implemented “quickly.” It was reported that the State Department is expected to issue the first round of termination notices on July 11th.
The U.S. Federal Supreme Court overturned a lower court order on July 8th, allowing the Trump administration to advance its plans to reduce federal workforce and dissolve federal agencies. The White House stated on the same day that this was a “decisive victory” for the Trump administration.
In February of this year, Trump signed an executive order to significantly reduce the federal workforce, affecting departments such as the Department of Agriculture, the Department of Commerce, the Department of Health and Human Services, the State Department, the Treasury Department, the Veterans Affairs Department, and more than a dozen federal agencies.
