According to a report by the Russian “Labor News” website on July 11th, Russian media quoted a statement released by the Urmal District Government of Chuvash Republic, stating that alongside the Russian Navy Deputy Commander and Admiral Mikhail Gudkov, Colonel Sergei Ilyinen, the commander of the 155th Independent Naval Landing Brigade, also perished in the special military operation.
The statement read, “Today we bid farewell… to Colonel Sergei Ilyinen, the commander of the 155th Independent Naval Landing Brigade, who sacrificed his life during the special military operation.”
It was reported that Ilyinen’s funeral took place on the 10th in Urmal district of Chuvash Republic, where he was born. The local government noted that Ilyinen demonstrated extraordinary bravery and self-sacrifice during the special military operation, always upholding the oath and duties of a soldier until the very end of his life. Local officials expressed their condolences to the relatives of the fallen colonel.
Previously, it was reported that Admiral Mikhail Gudkov, the Russian Navy Deputy Commander, died in early July while performing official duties in Kursk region. Gudkov has been posthumously awarded the title of Russian Hero, becoming the first military officer to receive this honor twice. He assumed the role of Deputy Commander of the Navy in March this year, having previously served as the commander of the 155th Independent Naval Landing Brigade, which has made significant contributions to the special military operation.
