The Indian aviation accident investigation authority disclosed the preliminary findings of the crash investigation into the previous incident involving an Indian Airlines Boeing 787-8 aircraft.
The report indicates that within a few seconds after takeoff,
the fuel switches for both engines almost simultaneously switched from “running” to “cut,” resulting in a shutdown of engine fuel supply and a loss of power in the air.
The report states, “In the voice recorder from the cockpit, one pilot can be heard asking another pilot why they cut off the engines.” The other pilot responded, “I didn’t do that.”
On June 8th, the Indian aviation accident investigation authority submitted a preliminary investigation report on the crash of an Indian Airlines Boeing 787-8 aircraft to the Civil Aviation Authority of India and other relevant departments.
On the afternoon of June 12th, local time, shortly after taking off from India to the United Kingdom, an Indian Airlines Boeing 787-8 aircraft crashed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, causing the death of over 270 people on board and on the ground. Both black boxes have been recovered. This marks the first fatal aviation disaster involving the Boeing 787 model, with teams from multiple countries assisting in the investigation.
