On July 13th, local time, WestJet Airways announced in a statement that around 23:00 on the 12th, an engine of a Boeing aircraft at Vancouver International Airport caught fire due to “a minor exhaust pipe ignition.” The crew used a staircase to evacuate dozens of passengers, with no reports of casualties at this time.
A spokesperson for Vancouver International Airport stated in a declaration that the Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft has been grounded for maintenance. This incident has not impacted the airport’s operations or the flight schedule.
