On the evening of July 13th, local time, French President Emmanuel Macron announced that France’s military budget would increase by an additional 3.5 billion euros in 2026 and another 3 billion euros in 2027, bringing the total to 64 billion euros, doubling the budget of 32 billion euros in 2017.
He stated that this was a “new, trustworthy, and indispensable effort.” The funding for this expenditure would come from “more economic activities and production,” without relying on borrowing. (Zhu Xuesong, CCTV)
