[Report by Intern Huang Kexin] According to reports from Russian Satellite News Agency and other media on the 15th, the Russian Ambassador to Denmark, Balbin, stated in an interview with the media that the Russian Embassy in Denmark is currently under a blockade by the Danish authorities, preventing normal diplomatic operations.
“Currently, the normal diplomatic work of Denmark cannot be carried out. The embassy has been blocked by the Danish authorities,” Balbin said.
The report quoted Balbin’s remarks, noting that at the same time, the embassy has been receiving letters of support from individuals and organizations in Russia and its diplomatic mission in Denmark.
As of the time of this publication, no response from Denmark has been seen.
Furthermore, according to a report by the Satellite News Agency on July 14th, Balbin mentioned in an interview that the long-term deployment of troops on Bohnholm Island indicates that Denmark is establishing a regional security framework against Russia.
Bohnholm Island, located near the southern coast of Sweden, serves as a vital passageway for accessing the Baltic Sea and is considered a strategic location. On April 23rd of this year, the Danish Ministry of Defense announced that due to “deteriorating security situations,” Denmark plans to add 5,000 new military positions over the next eight years, including the establishment of a new infantry battalion. The proposed infantry battalion is intended to ensure continuous military presence on Bohnholm Island, which lies within the Baltic Sea.
