On July 15th, local time,
It was learned that following the Supreme Court’s decision on the 14th, the U.S. Department of Education began sending out updated termination notices to hundreds of employees. The notice informed the staff that they would officially resign on August 1st. It stated that the department thanked them for their service and “understood the current difficulties.”
Previously, in March this year, U.S. Secretary of Education Linda McMahon announced that as part of Trump’s plan to gradually close down the Department of Education, she would lay off approximately 1,400 people. The lower court temporarily halted the layoffs, but the Supreme Court ultimately ruled the order invalid. (Liu Xiaoqian)
