The source revealed that Israel and representatives from the mediator, Qatar, and Egypt held talks on the same day, where Israel submitted a new withdrawal plan from the Gaza Strip. According to this new proposal, Israel has made further concessions, with plans to withdraw from the “Moraw corridor” in southern Gaza during the proposed 60-day ceasefire period. He stated that the mediator believes the new plan increases the likelihood of reaching an agreement, and currently, there is a focus on discussing military issues in the Lafayette region by the Israeli side.
Furthermore, a diplomat from Israel mentioned that negotiations with Hamas have been challenging and slow-moving, and he could not provide a negotiation schedule. However, he believes it is feasible to reach a short-term ceasefire agreement. He emphasized that Israel has not committed to ending the conflict, stating that this ceasefire will be temporary and last for 60 days, during which negotiations will be conducted towards achieving a permanent ceasefire.
Since the beginning of this month, Israel and Hamas have engaged in a new round of indirect negotiations in Doha regarding the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of detainees among other issues. (CCTV Zhao Fangyuan)
