On the evening of July 16th, local time, Yehia Saleh, a spokesperson for the Houthis in Yemen, announced that the Houthis’ missile and drone units conducted a “joint military operation” against multiple Israeli targets on the same day in response to Israel’s ongoing aggression in the Gaza Strip.
The statement detailed that the missile unit launched a “Zulfaq” ballistic missile at Ben-Gurion International Airport in central Israel, achieving a successful hit on the target. The drone unit deployed four attack drones, targeting a military objective in the southern Negev region, Ben-Gurion International Airport, and Eilat port along the Red Sea coast. The statement acknowledged that these actions were successful, resulting in “flight disruptions” and “evacuation of personnel to shelters.”
Earlier, the Israeli military had reported intercepting a missile from Yemen.
It will continue to prevent Israeli vessels from shipping activities in the Red Sea and the Arabian Sea, and once again warned international shipping companies operating with Israeli ports that their ships could potentially become targets at any reachable distance, regardless of their intended routes.
