On July 16th, local time, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stated that they had engaged with all parties involved in the Syrian conflict and had resolved to end this “unsettling and terrifying situation” by that evening.
Pompeo mentioned that this required all parties to fulfill their commitments, and the United States fully expects them to do so.
Since July 13th, a fierce armed conflict has erupted in the southern province of Soudan, resulting in significant casualties. The Syrian Interior Ministry accused Israel of carrying out airstrikes against local “illegal” armed groups in support of the Syrian regime. On the 16th, Israeli airstrikes targeted military targets in Damascus, Syria, while continuing to bombard areas such as Soudan.
