According to the report by Yonhap, the independent investigation team (hereinafter referred to as the “independent investigation team”) responsible for investigating the corruption case of former President Yoon Seok-yeol’s wife Kim Jianxi in South Korea conducted a search on the facilities of the “Tongil Church” in Seoul and Gapyeong County, Gyeonggi Province on the 18th.
The independent investigation team in South Korea sent prosecutors and investigators to the headquarters of the “Tongil Church” in Gapyeong and the Seoul headquarters in Yongsan District, Seoul to collect physical evidence such as document files and digital archives. The independent investigation team will analyze the evidence obtained on that day and investigate whether the “Tongil Church” had bribed Kim Jianxi through a monk named “Qianjin Shifu” Quan Chengpei (sound) and requested him to handle some matters.
Quan Chengpei is suspected of receiving diamond necklaces and luxury bags from the former world leader of the “Tongil Church” Yin at between April and August 2022, and transferring them to Kim Jianxi. He also relayed requests from the “Tongil Church” to Kim Jianxi.
The original “Tongil Church” is also known as the “World Christian Unity Divine Association”. It was founded by South Korean pastor Wen Xianming in South Korea in 1954, and later renamed as the “World Peace and Reunification Family Federation”. It is now headed by Han Hezi, the wife of Wen Xianming. In 1997, China’s Ministry of Public Security identified the “Tongil Church” as a cult organization in documents sent to 10 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities including Jilin province.
