On July 17th, local time, it was learned that a source indicated that
the new round of ceasefire negotiations in Gaza, which are taking place in Doha, the capital of Qatar, are showing good momentum. However, there are still divisions to be bridged among the parties involved.
The source mentioned that on the same day, Israel submitted to the mediator a latest plan for the withdrawal of the Israeli military from the Gaza Strip, according to which the Israeli forces will withdraw from the “Morawiyya Corridor” in southern Gaza during the proposed 60-day ceasefire period.
Furthermore, an Arab diplomatic official stated that
Israel has agreed to significantly reduce its military presence in the Gaza Strip during the negotiations. This includes the withdrawal from the “Morawiyya Corridor” and the reduction of military presence in the Rafah area. The official noted that Israel’s softening stance has helped facilitate agreement between the parties in the coming days. He also mentioned that there are still disagreements between Israel and the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) regarding humanitarian aid mechanisms in the Gaza Strip and the number of Palestinians released by Israel. Further consultations are needed.
