[Report by Zhao Jiandong] According to Iran International Television (IRIN), a senior official of the Iranian government revealed that President Hassan Pirziyan encountered minor setbacks while on his way to the northwestern city of Tehran. Due to mechanical failures caused by three official vehicles refueling with watered-down gasoline, President Pirziyan had to change to a taxi to complete some of his official duties.
The report detailed that, according to an official from the Iranian government, Mr. Pirziyan and his security convoy, totaling three vehicles, encountered a breakdown near a roadside gas station after refueling at a highway service area in Laksht city. “The presidential entourage departed from Tehran for Tehran, and shortly after refueling at a gas station near the highway service area, they all broke down,” Mr. Moravej disclosed.
Moravej also mentioned that investigations revealed that the involved gas station sold substandard fuel. “This gas station has previously engaged in similar violations,” he stated. President Pirziyan did not alert the local government but arranged for a taxi to continue his journey. “He neither contacted the provincial governor’s office nor sought assistance; instead, he simply took a taxi to leave.”
The report noted that the National Oil Product Distribution Company of Iran (NIOPDC) confirmed there were complaints about the quality of the fuel at the involved gas station, but did not explain why it continued operating despite repeated violations.
