On July 17th, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement stating that on July 16th, Russia had strongly protested to the Japanese Embassy in Moscow regarding Japan’s participation in the “Resolute Shield·Pacific” large-scale military exercise by the US Air Force. The statement highlighted that the exercise took place from July 9th to August 4th, with some training sites being very close to military bases in the Russian Far East.
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the US and Japan claimed that this exercise aimed to enhance combat coordination capabilities and strengthen the deterrence and response capabilities of the US and Japan in actual combat environments. The Japanese Self-Defense Force headquarters openly implied that the necessity of this exercise stemmed from Russia’s efforts to strengthen its own defensive capabilities.
Such irresponsible actions clearly have a nature of responding to armed conflicts and are completely unacceptable.
