On July 17th, local time, President Donald Trump took to his social media platform “Truth Social” to express his outrage over the publication of a “forged letter” by The Wall Street Journal regarding Epstein. He described the report as “false, malicious, and defamatory,” and announced that he would sue The Wall Street Journal, News Corp, and Rupert Murdoch himself. He emphasized that he had personally warned Murdoch and the editor-in-chief Emma Tucker about the authenticity of the letter, yet they persisted in publishing it.
Trump referred to this action as “another case of fake news,” and denied any impropriety with Epstein.
According to a report on July 17th by The Wall Street Journal, during Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003, a leather-bound birthday album prepared by friends Maxwell contained a signed letter from Trump, which was light-hearted and included several lines of text. The letter was written in the third person, mimicking a fictional conversation between Trump and Epstein. (Xu Xiao)
