[South Korean Media: Chinese Individuals Disguised as Koreans Fight in Thailand #Thai Police Confirm Restaurant Brawlers Are Korean Tourists#]
According to a report by South Korea’s “Daily Economic,” there have been continuous scandals involving group fights or assaults on locals among some Koreans in Thailand and Vietnam recently. On July 11th, at a restaurant in Pattaya, Thailand, about 10 Korean tourists engaged in a brawl. Social media videos showed several men, fully clothed and covered in tattoos, fighting each other, leading to physical altercations.
The incident caused panic among the restaurant patrons, resulting in chaos. Local police arrested four of the involved Korean tourists, who were found to have started the conflict over a verbal dispute during a meal. The restaurant demanded compensation for damages amounting to 100,000 Thai Baht (approximately 23,000 Renminbi). The tourists involved had already paid the compensation. The police charged the four with “Public Places Assault” and issued fines before releasing them.
Initially, some Thai media speculated that the participants were “Chinese tourists fighting each other,” but this was later corrected to “Conflicts between Chinese and Korean tourists.” South Korean media claimed that “Chinese individuals disguised as Koreans fought to tarnish the reputation of Korea,” sparking public controversy.
Ultimately, the Thai police investigation confirmed that all four individuals involved were Korean tourists without any involvement from Chinese people. The brawl was triggered by internal conflicts among the Korean tourists, and they have compensated the restaurant for its losses and accepted the fine. (Hua Shang Daily)
