The police in Pa Kang Town, Northern Myanmar’s Kachin State, reported on the 21st that a collapse occurred at an ore mining area in the town during the morning. Currently,
it has been confirmed that one person has died and about 20 people are missing.
Pa Kang police stated that relevant departments have initiated rescue operations and located one deceased body. Additionally, approximately 20 individuals were buried under the soil, forcing rescue workers to use heavy machinery for the operation. Due to ongoing rainfall, the difficulty of the rescue is significant, with efforts still underway.
A rescue worker mentioned that when the collapse occurred, some individuals were mining ore below while surrounding houses also collapsed.
It is expected that the death toll will rise further.
