On the 20th local time, it was learned that due to schedule conflicts, the Jerusalem District Court will cancel the hearing for Prime Minister Netanyahu’s corruption case recently.
Media reports such as “Israel Times” stated that Netanyahu might attend the next hearing in early September. Earlier on the 20th, the Jerusalem District Court had mentioned that, considering Netanyahu’s sudden stomach flu requiring home treatment for three days, the hearings originally scheduled for the 21st and 22nd would be postponed to the 23rd and 24th. However, at the evening of the 20th, the Jerusalem District Court announced that due to schedule conflicts related to work, the hearings could not be held recently. Additionally, given that
Israeli courts are about to enter a summer recess from early September until the beginning of October,
it is expected that Netanyahu’s next court appearance for a hearing will also take place in early September.
At the beginning of 2020, the Israeli prosecutor’s office formally charged Netanyahu with bribery, fraud, and breach of public trust. In May of the same year, the court first held a trial on this case, making Netanyahu Israel’s first sitting prime minister to undergo judicial proceedings. On December 10, 2024, Netanyahu appeared in court for the first time in connection with a suspected corruption case. According to media reports in Israel, if convicted, Netanyahu faces up to 10 years in prison for bribery and a total of up to 3 years in prison for fraud and breach of public trust. (CCTV Zhao Bing)
