【Trump: Indeed, they were shot down! India’s domestic debate is up in arms】#Trump claims the IAF was shot down during the “Spring conflict” between India and Pakistan# Following President Trump’s claim that “the Spring conflict” between India and Pakistan has resulted in multiple fighter jets being shot down, the opposition Congress party in India swiftly demanded an open disclosure of the real losses suffered by the Indian military during the conflict from the Modi government. Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has condemned the Congress leader Lalu Gandhi as a traitor and questioned whether he is aiding Pakistan, the adversary.
According to a report by The Hindu on July 20th, President Trump had claimed that he facilitated peace between India and Pakistan, but the Indian government has denied this claim. On the 18th local time, Trump claimed that “five fighter jets were shot down” during the conflict, though he did not specify which side these aircraft belonged to.
The New Delhi Television reported that after Trump made these remarks, the Congress leader Lalu Gandhi called out Modi on social media on the 19th, asking: “Mr. Modi, what is the truth behind the five fighter jets being shot down?”
Amit Malvi, a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party, retorted against Lalu, stating that Trump had not disclosed which country the planes belonged to and questioned why Lalu believed them to be Indian when they were not mentioned in either context. “Lalu’s mindset is like that of a traitor. Trump neither mentioned India nor did he mention that those five planes belonged to India. So, why does Lalu think they belong to India? Why not to Pakistan?” Malvi posted on his social media account X.
Previously, Pakistan claimed to have shot down five Indian fighter jets, while India claimed to have shot down several Pakistani fighter jets. Pakistan denied any loss of aircraft but acknowledged attacks on its airbases.
