The National Disaster Management Council of the Philippines (NDMC) announced that as of 6 a.m. on July 22, due to the combined weather systems of this year’s 6th typhoon “Weipa,” the southwest monsoon, and newly formed low-pressure areas,
there have been 6 deaths and 6 missing persons in the Philippines, with more than 1.26 million people affected by the disaster.
At 8 a.m. on the 22nd, the Philippine Meteorological Service issued a highest level red alert for heavy rains across various locations, including the capital, Metro Manila. The Presidential Palace announced that several cities, including the capital, would be closed and schools suspended to mitigate the impacts of rainfall and floods.
