On the early morning of July 23rd, local time, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky delivered a speech stating that Ukraine’s military had suffered its first loss of a French-supplied “Ferretti G600” fighter jet the day before, with the pilot ejecting from the aircraft. He mentioned that the loss was due to equipment failure and not an attack by Russian forces.
According to Ukrainian media reports, the incident occurred in the western part of the country in the state of Warne, where no casualties were reported on the ground. Rescue teams have pinpointed the pilot’s landing location and he is in stable condition.
Ukrainian Air Force sources indicate that the pilot of the aircraft involved in the incident reported to his flight commander on the evening of the 22nd that “aviation equipment was malfunctioning,” potentially indicating a “critical situation.” Following this, the pilot took “appropriate action” and successfully ejected. Currently, the Ukrainian Air Force has established a special investigation committee for this incident. (News)
