On the morning of July 24th, local time, the Cambodian Ministry of Defense issued a statement through its spokesperson,
clearly condemning Thailand’s barbaric military aggression towards Cambodia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Marie Soojatta, Deputy Secretary-General and spokesperson for the Cambodian Ministry of Defense, stated that Thailand has used various heavy weapons and overdeployed troops to occupy Cambodian territory, clearly violating the basic principles of the United Nations Charter and the ASEAN Charter as well as international law.
Cambodia calls on members of the international community to condemn Thailand’s illegal actions and hold Thai authorities fully responsible for their violations. According to Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, Cambodia reserves the legitimate right to self-defense and will resolutely respond to Thailand’s aggression.
The Cambodian Ministry of Defense urges social media users not to share information, images, or videos from unverified sources, especially those showing military activities, bunkers, and troop movements.
On the morning of July 24th, border clashes occurred between Thailand and Cambodia in the两国’s border region, with both sides accusing each other of opening fire first. Subsequently, the Second Army District of Thailand posted on social media at 10:58 local time that Thai Air Force F-16 fighter jets had destroyed two military facilities in Cambodia.
