On July 23rd, local time, it was learned that the U.S. government has initiated a new round of investigation into whether Harvard University is complying with an international student and professor visa program operated by the government.
On the same day, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken sent a letter to President of Harvard University, informing them of the initiation of this investigation. In the letter, Blinken did not mention any specific allegations of impropriety but stated that the purpose of the investigation is “to assist the State Department in achieving its policy objectives.”
The current investigation focuses on the “Visiting Fellows Program” at Harvard University. This program aims to facilitate cultural and educational exchanges by issuing visas to various applicants including students, professors, researchers, interns, and exchange students. (Liu Xu)
