[Report] Comprehensive reports from the Cambodian “Khmer Times” and the British “The Guardian” on the 25th reported that the Chairman of the Cambodian Senate, Hun Sen, posted on social media criticizing the “aggressive” speeches made by former Thai Prime Minister Thaksin.
According to The Guardian, Thaksin posted on social media on the 24th, expressing gratitude for countries that offered assistance in resolving the Cambodian-Thai border conflict and stating his desire to wait a bit longer. He also mentioned, “We need the Thai military to fulfill its duties and teach Hun Sen a lesson.”
The Cambodian “Khmer Times” reported that Hun Sen subsequently criticized Thaksin’s “aggressive” speeches on social media, revealing Thailand’s intentions towards Cambodia amidst escalating tensions at the Thai-Cambodian border. “I am not surprised by Thaksin’s attitude towards me,” Hun Sen added, “He is now using revenge against Hun Sen as an excuse to resort to war, which will ultimately result in suffering for the people.”
Conflicts between Cambodia and Thailand occurred along the border on the 24th and 25th, with both sides accusing each other of violating international law. The United Nations Security Council will hold a closed meeting on the 25th regarding the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia.
