On July 24th, local time, Polish President Duda signed an act to officially approve Poland’s withdrawal from the Ottawa Mine Ban Convention.
This act was fully approved by the Senate of Poland last week.
The formal name of the Ottawa Mine Ban Convention is “Convention on the Prohibition of the Use, Stockpiling, Production and Transmission of Anti-Personnel Mines and on Their Destruction,” aimed at comprehensively banning anti-personnel mines. This convention was signed in Ottawa, Canada, in December 1997 and came into effect in March 1999. (CCTV News, Xu Ming)
