From the Israeli side, it has been learned that the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) submitted a negotiation response to the mediators in the early hours of the day, for the first time, requesting the release of members of its elite unit “Nuhba” who had participated in the attack on October 7, 2023.
According to reports from Israel’s public broadcaster, Hamas did not specify a list of individuals but made its request based on criteria such as “specific categories and quantities,” including members of the “Nuhba” unit and those serving life sentences.
Hamas has yet to respond to this request.
Since June, Israel and Hamas have engaged in a new round of indirect negotiations in Doha regarding ceasefires in the Gaza Strip and the exchange of detainees. Media sources revealed that on the 16th, the mediators Qatar, Egypt, and the United States submitted an updated proposal for a ceasefire agreement in Gaza to both Israel and Hamas. In the early hours of the 24th, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced that the organization had submitted a response to the ceasefire agreement proposal.
