On the 24th local time, the US Special Envoy for the Middle East, Witkower, stated that following the latest response from the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas), they have decided to bring their team back to Doha for consultations. They are now considering other options to bring hostages home. Witkower mentioned that the shortening of the participation in the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza is due to Hamas’ lack of “sincerity.”
In the early hours of the 24th, the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) issued a statement saying that the organization had submitted its response to the proposal for the ceasefire agreement in Gaza. The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office also released a statement on the same day, stating that after Hamas submitted its response, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu decided to allow the negotiation team to return to Israel to continue discussions on the ceasefire negotiations in Gaza.
Since the 6th of this month, Israel and Hamas have engaged in a new round of indirect negotiations in Doha regarding the ceasefire and the exchange of detainees in the Gaza Strip.
