On July 25th, local time, Turkish Foreign Minister Fadil stated that Turkey is actively coordinating the process for a leaders’ summit to be held in Turkey involving all parties involved in the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Prior to this, both sides had reached a principled agreement.
Fadil pointed out that the current diplomatic process is led by the President of Turkey himself, with good coordination among relevant agencies. He emphasized that the Russia-Ukraine conflict not only caused severe humanitarian disasters and destroyed large cities but also could potentially trigger a larger-scale war and division on the international stage. “This is a complex and costly conflict, where almost all means have been used except for nuclear weapons.”
Fadil mentioned that during previous diplomatic contacts, both Russia and Ukraine had discussed whether leaders could meet and how they should meet, and agreed in principle to hold a leaders’ summit in Turkey. He noted that negotiations are still advancing, and as more exchanges take place, it becomes clearer that there is an intention to reach a consensus on a “middle ground” position. Turkey is committed to creating an environment conducive to dialogue. He expressed optimism about achieving a “transitional solution” in the future. (CCTV Chen Huihui)
