Under the chairmanship of Malaysia, the ASEAN Chair, and with the participation of Prime Minister Hun Mak Nai of Cambodia and Acting Prime Minister Prachatep Phanit of Thailand, a special meeting was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia today (July 28). The meeting has concluded, and following the press conference following the event, Prime Minister Anwar of Malaysia stated that both leaders from Cambodia and Thailand expressed their desire for an immediate ceasefire. A ceasefire will be initiated from midnight local time today. Direct communication between the Prime Ministers, Foreign Ministers, and Defense Ministers of Thailand and Cambodia will resume. Anwar remarked that this meeting represents a crucial first step towards de-escalation of conflict and the restoration of peace.
