On July 28th, Kim Yong-jin, Deputy Secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, stated in a speech that following the Lee Jae-myung administration’s takeover, there has been an unrealistic effort to improve relations with North Korea. Recently, South Korea speculated about the possibility of inviting North Korea to attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) leaders’ informal meeting in Gyeongju in a few months, which is nothing but daydreaming.
The speech mentioned that South Korea’s unilateral declaration of North Korea as the main adversary and its promotion of an extreme confrontation atmosphere cannot change all the results brought about by a few words.
North Korea believes that the current South Korean government’s blind obedience to the US-South Korea alliance and its intention to fight North Korea to the end are no different from those of its predecessors. The US-South Korea will continue their old tricks, planning to shift the responsibility for worsening the situation on the Korean Peninsula they have created onto North Korea. Therefore, regardless of what South Korea does or proposes, North Korea’s hostility towards it will not change.
Kim Yong-jin finally reiterated his stance once again, stating that regardless of what policy South Korea devises or what suggestions it makes, North Korea is not interested in them, nor is there anything or any issue that North Korea would discuss with South Korea. (CCTV Reporter: Dong Haitao)
