On the 28th local time, according to data from the Thai government and military, the border conflict between Thailand and Cambodia has resulted in 23 Thai deaths, including 14 civilians and 9 military personnel.
Furthermore, early on the 28th, Thai military sources reported that since 23:00 on the 27th, Cambodian forces had been continuously attacking, not stopping their fire until dawn, with Thai soldiers maintaining a high state of readiness throughout.
On the same day, Cambodian Defense Ministry spokesperson Mary Sutejda stated at a press conference that despite plans for a special meeting between the Prime Minister of Cambodia and the Acting Prime Minister of Thailand in Malaysia, Thailand launched an attack on Cambodia in the early hours of the 28th. She also mentioned that, as of the 27th, due to the conflict between Cambodia and Thailand, 39,828 households across 134,707 people have been forced to leave their homes, including pregnant women, the elderly, disabled individuals, and children. More than 600 schools across five provinces were closed, affecting approximately 150,000 students and 6,000 teachers.
At the invitation of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar, Thailand’s Acting Prime Minister Phatthaman and Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen led a delegation to Malaysia on the 28th to attend a meeting on the situation regarding the border between Cambodia and Thailand. Currently, both sides are consulting on the ceasefire-related issues at the Prime Minister’s Office in Malaysia.
Since the 24th, there have been clashes between Cambodia and Thailand along their border regions, with both sides accusing each other of violating international law.
