On July 28th, local time, the Prime Minister of Malaysia announced that Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to a ceasefire, with the ceasefire agreement taking effect at midnight (local time on July 28th).
The same day, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen confirmed that Cambodia and Thailand would begin a ceasefire from midnight.
Thai Deputy Prime Minister Pran said that Cambodia and Thailand had reached an agreement on a ceasefire.
According to a joint statement released by the three parties,
Cambodia and Thailand agreed to a unilateral ceasefire, effective from midnight local time on July 28th.
An informal meeting of regional commanders was held at 7:00 am local time on July 29th.
A joint committee meeting for border issues will be convened by Cambodia on August 4th. As the ASEAN Chair, Malaysia is ready to organize an observer group to verify and ensure the implementation of the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand. The two sides also agreed to resume direct communication between the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister, and Defense Minister.

On July 23rd, the acting Prime Minister of Thailand ordered the recall of the Ambassador to Cambodia.
In the early hours of July 24th, Cambodia decided to lower its diplomatic relations with Thailand to the lowest level and recalled its diplomatic staff in Bangkok.
On July 24th, soldiers from both countries exchanged fire in the disputed border area, each accusing the other of violating international law.
On July 26th, the United Nations Security Council held an emergency closed-door meeting regarding the border conflict between Cambodia and Thailand, with both sides proposing to resolve the dispute through peaceful means.
On the evening of July 27th, both Thai and Cambodian sides confirmed that they would meet in Kuala Lumpur, as invited by the Prime Minister of Malaysia, on the 28th.
On the afternoon of July 28th, delegations from Thailand and Cambodia attended a special meeting on the border situation in Malaysia, agreeing to a ceasefire.
