On the afternoon of the same day, Poutan will hold talks with the Prime Minister of Cambodia, Hong Mak Nai, at the Malaysian Prime Minister’s Residence to discuss border conflict issues. The meeting is chaired by the ASEAN Chairperson-in-Office, the Prime Minister of Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim. It is expected that discussions on a ceasefire will be initiated between Thailand and Cambodia.
Since the 24th, there have been conflicts between Cambodia and Thailand along their border regions, with both sides accusing each other of violating international law. According to data released by both parties, the conflict has resulted in hundreds of casualties and a large number of people being forced to evacuate to safe areas.
