Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated on social media on the 27th local time that he had a video conference with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, where they engaged in in-depth discussions on topics such as Ukraine’s integration into the European Union, strengthening sanctions against Russia, and domestic anti-corruption reforms. During the talks, Zelensky highlighted Ukraine’s preparations for the EU membership negotiations. He mentioned that Ukraine is fully committed to advancing these reforms to expedite the initiation of the first negotiation cluster. He emphasized that Ukraine is proceeding at its highest efficiency in this endeavor, looking forward to substantial progress soon.
Zelensky pointed out that Ukraine has fully incorporated all 18 rounds of EU sanctions into its domestic legal system and will continue to enhance the enforcement of these measures. Additionally, the two sides discussed legislative measures to ensure the independence of Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies and expressed gratitude towards the European Commission for providing professional advice on this bill. He noted that this bill must be passed next week.
