According to Calcio Finanza, Italian media outlet, if Juventus wishes to avoid losses, Douglas Luiz must be sold for 38.97 million euros.
Both Douglas Luiz and the club are eager to reach a contract resignation agreement as soon as possible, despite having the same intention to leave. However, there is disagreement over the transfer form. The player prefers to join Everton, but the Toffees only accept a pure rental scheme. West Ham, Nottingham Forest, and Fenerbahce, coached by Mourinho, are still in the competition. Juventus insists on a rental scheme with a mandatory buyout clause to balance the investment loss of the initial 48.7 million euro transfer fee.
Last Thursday, Douglas Luiz was absent from Juventus’ training without reason. Now he has returned to the team, and the club will impose a fine (withholding 5% of his monthly salary, approximately 38,000-40,000 euros), along with an official apology. Following this, the club will fully push forward with his transfer matters.
According to the latest financial report, Douglas Luiz’s historical transfer cost is 48.7 million euros. Considering the contract signed until 2029 (after-tax annual salary of 5 million euros, pre-tax 9.25 million euros), Juventus spent a total of 19 million euros last season on him. Currently, his book value has dropped to 38.97 million euros, meaning if Juventus wants to avoid asset impairment in the 2025-26 fiscal year report, they must sell him at this price.
