On July 29th, local time, Japan’s Cabinet Secretary, Yoshimasa Hayashi, attended the Council of the House and Senate Committees of the Diet.
He announced that a temporary Diet would be convened on August 1st, along with the release of related schedules.
During this temporary Diet session, positions such as the Speaker of the Senate and the Chairpersons of various committees will be elected. Additionally, it was planned to hold a meeting of the House Budget Committee on August 4th, where Prime Minister Taro Kono will attend for intensive deliberation.
Regarding the duration, the Liberal Democratic Party proposed a five-day period, but has yet to reach an agreement with the opposition parties, with negotiations still ongoing. (CCTV Liu Zhuye)
