On July 29th, the Belarusian Ministry of Defense reported that around 2 a.m., an unmanned drone equipped with explosives was intercepted in Belarusian airspace. The drone crashed near a house in Minsk, causing no casualties but damaging several vehicles. The drone was carrying nitroglycerin (TNT) explosives. Belarus is investigating the incident and enhancing its airspace control measures.
According to Xinhua News Agency on July 30th, the Belarusian Ministry of Defense announced on July 29th that it had discovered and intercepted an unmanned drone loaded with explosives in the Belarusian airspace around 2 a.m. The Ministry stated that the drone violated airspace usage regulations by crashing near a house in Minsk, the capital of Belarus, under electronic warfare suppression and without causing any casualties.
Following the crash, the Belarusian Investigative Committee found no explosions but the wreckage caused damage to several vehicles. This criminal investigative agency discovered fragments of the drone’s body and wings, engine, navigational equipment, as well as the battlehead containing TNT explosives and a large number of metal projectile fragments.
The Belarusian Ministry of Defense has initiated an investigation into this incident and has taken additional measures to strengthen airspace control. It emphasized that President Alexander Lukashenko is closely monitoring the situation.
Furthermore, according to a statement released by the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry on July 28th, Ukraine decided to suspend the implementation of the “European Conventional Armed Forces Treaty” during its session. The statement highlighted that suspending the “Ottawa Mine Ban” would be the next step in Ukraine’s efforts to strengthen its defense.
During the meeting, it was also decided to expedite the termination of multiple international agreements within the framework of Russia, Belarus, and the Commonwealth of Independent States.
