The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) issued an earthquake and tsunami warning. At 07:24 Beijing time on July 30th, a magnitude 7.6 earthquake occurred in the remote sea area of the eastern coast of Kamchatka (52.44°N, 160.13°E). The depth of the earthquake was 15 kilometers. Based on preliminary seismic parameters, the NOAA Tsunami Warning Center predicts that the earthquake could potentially trigger a regional tsunami within hundreds of kilometers around the epicenter, but it is unlikely to cause significant damage along China’s coastline.
