On July 30th, the Governor of Sakhalin Oblast stated that residents in the North Kurilsk region of the Kamchatka Peninsula have been relocated to safe areas following the earthquake and are currently not in immediate danger. The Governor emphasized that aftershocks continue to occur and the tsunami alert has not been lifted.
The North Kurilsk region has entered a state of emergency.
