According to news reports, Tokyo Electric Power Company announced on July 30th that due to the impact of the tsunami, it had suspended the discharge of nuclear contaminated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station into the sea around 9:05 AM local time. At 8:51 AM, TEP issued evacuation instructions to employees at the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station and stated that it would monitor tsunami information to assess whether the tsunami could affect the nuclear power station.
At 8:37 AM local time on July 30th, the Japan Meteorological Agency reported that due to a strong earthquake occurring near the Kamchatka Peninsula, coastal areas in many parts of Japan are currently under a tsunami warning.
