According to data released by the Special Management Center for the Thai-Cambodian Border Situation on July 29,
Thailand’s seven provinces are affected by the border conflict with Cambodia, affecting approximately 280,000 households and over 810,000 people. The conflict has resulted in 15 civilian deaths and 38 injuries.
The Thai government has established 768 temporary shelters, accommodating over 190,000 people who have been evacuated from dangerous areas, while fully activating rescue mechanisms.
The Thai government reiterates its commitment to continuously monitor the border situation, actively promote a easing of tensions, ensure the safety of lives and property, and handle all emergency situations with humanitarian principles at their core.
Furthermore, according to reports from the Thai military, as of July 29, 15 soldiers have died in the conflict, and another 103 have been injured. (Reported by Li Min, CCTV)
Conflicts between Cambodia and Thailand began on July 24, with both sides accusing each other of violating international law. Under the presidency of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar, talks were held between Cambodia and Thailand on July 28, agreeing to “immediately and unconditionally” cease fire starting from midnight on the same day, ending the border conflict that had lasted for several days. On July 29, Thai Army and Cambodian Ministry of Defense confirmed that commanders from the two countries’ military regions held talks in the border area to implement the ceasefire agreement. Both sides also agreed to host a joint committee meeting for the border on August 4, organized by Cambodia.
